PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (RAWTH'-lihs-bur-gur) says he has torn ligaments and a sprain in his right shoulder as Pittsburgh readies to take on Denver in Sunday's playoff game. He was injured in last week's win over the Bengals. Coach Mike Tomlin says Roethlisberger is day-to-day.

DENVER (AP) — A person close to the negotiations has told The Associated Press outfielder Gerardo Parra has agreed to a three-year, $27.5 million deal with Colorado. The two-time Gold Glove winner hit .291 with 14 homers last season for Milwaukee and Baltimore, which obtained him in a trade deadline deal.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Dodgers have acquired minor league infielder Erick Mejia from the Mariners for pitcher Joe Wieland. Mejia has a .273 career batting average with 49 stolen bases, a home run and 42 RBIs in 133 minor league games in the Seattle organization.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Former Butler basketball star Andrew Smith has died at age 25 after a two-year battle with cancer. The 6-foot-11 Smith played in two national championship games with the Bulldogs. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma early in 2014. His body rejected a bone marrow transplant he had last November.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias (EHL'-ee-ahsh) has had surgery on his right knee. General manager Ray Shero announced that Elias has an arthroscopic procedure done at the Cleveland Clinic. The team is hoping he can play later this season.
