NEW YORK (AP) — Nick Cordero has been picked to star opposite Tony Award-winner Jessie Mueller in "Waitress" on Broadway.
Cordero, the Tony-nominated star of "Bullets Over Broadway" and "Rock of Ages," will appear alongside Thay Floyd, Molly Hager, Aisha Jackson, Ragan Pharris and Ryan Vasquez.
"Waitress," the musical adaptation of the 2007 film with songs by pop star Sara Bareilles, tells the story of a waitress and pie maker trapped in a small-town diner and a loveless marriage. Cordero will play the husband.
The musical will play the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, with previews beginning March 25 and opening night set for April 24. It comes from the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University. Diane Paulus directs.
