TOKYO (AP) — Olympic organizers in Japan say four entries have made a shortlist after a public competition for the design of a new logo for the 2020 Tokyo Games.
The new logo will be unveiled in the spring after the organizers investigate and register trademarks.
The initial emblem was designed by Kenjiro Sano but was scrapped over accusations of plagiarism. It came under intense scrutiny because of its similarity to the logo of a theater in Belgium.
Tokyo organizers also scrapped the logo for the Paralympic Games, which was also designed by Sano.
Ryohei Miyata, the head of the logo selection committee, said the three-day screening process ended with 21 committee members each selecting three designs and voting to decide on the final shortlist of four.
