SANDY — A man who robbed Beans and Brews Coffee House and 7-eleven Monday is now in jail, officials said.

David S. Small, 45, entered the 7-eleven at 2311 South Redwood Rd. and demanded money. He lifted his shirt to display a handgun to the clerk, who opened the cash register and gave all the money to Small, who left the business.

He also entered Beans and Brews Coffee House at 45 East 11400 South around 11 a.m., ordered coffee, then demanded money. He displayed a handgun to an employee, who gave him an undisclosed amount of money, according to Sandy police.

Small left the coffee house in an unknown direction but was later arrested. He wore the same clothes during both robberies, and Sandy police obtained information on his identity, according to officials.

He was taken into custody and interviewed at the Sandy Police Department.

He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail in connection with two counts of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony; possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a second-degree felony; and theft, a second-degree felony, police said.

Small was wanted by the state of Maryland on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest, police said.
