Rhode Island uses hot 3-point shooting to top Richmond 77-65

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Jarvis Garrett scored 18 points, Four McGlynn added 14 and the duo combined to make eight 3-pointers to help Rhode Island beat Richmond 77-65 on Tuesday night.

Rhode Island hit its first eight 3-pointers — with makes from five players — to build a 29-18 lead. The Rams extended their lead to 41-32 at halftime after eight of their 15 made field goals were from 3-point range.

T.J. Cline kept Richmond in it with 16 points in the first half and Terry Allen added 11. Cline only missed one of his eight field-goal attempts as the Spiders made 50 percent of their shots before half.

McGlynn's floater and 3-pointer on consecutive possessions extended Rhode Island's lead to 64-47 with eight minutes left.

Jared Terrell added 18 points for Rhode Island (10-5, 2-0 Atlantic 10).

Cline led Richmond (8-6, 0-2) with 28 points and Allen reached double-figure scoring for the 24th straight game with 19 points.
