RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Jaylin Airington and Kevin Mays each scored 17 points and CS Bakersfield rode a double-digit first half lead to a 67-48 win over UC Riverside Saturday night.
After getting held to 1-for-11 shooting against Arizona State, Mays now has put up back-to-back double digit scoring efforts, scoring 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds in an 80-68 win over Morgan State on New Year's Eve. Mays was 8 of 14 from the field against the Highlanders with four boards and two assists.
Airington shot 7 of 13 from the field and hit half of his four 3-point attempts. Dedrick Basile added 15 points for the Roadrunners (10-5).
Taylor Johns scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead UC Riverside, with Secean Johnson adding another 12 points.
The Highlanders (9-7) lost to Ohio Wednesday, 81-59, to snap a four-game win streak.
