RENO, Nev. (AP) — A man's bid to force a Nevada hospital to provide life support for his 20-year-old daughter goes back to court for arguments about standards for brain death and tests to prove it. The attorney for father Fanuel Gebreyes says he expects Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center to ask a judge to allow brain wave tests that weren't done last summer. Lawyers for the Reno hospital argue that the tests will show Aden Hailu (AY'-dehn HEHL'-oo) is brain-dead and a ventilator and intravenous tubes should be removed.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 20-year-old man is facing 12 to 40 years in Nevada state prison after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs in a crash that killed a 6-year-old girl and her grandmother at a Las Vegas bus stop. Prosecutors say blood tests show Leonardo Ruesga had marijuana and methamphetamine in his system when his Volvo jumped a curb. Sentencing is scheduled Feb. 16.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge set a Jan. 7 court date for a woman accused of fatally shooting her husband in front of a 9-year-old boy on Christmas Eve in a downtown Las Vegas hotel room. Maria Andrea Escalante is being held without bail. A motive in the slaying wasn't clear.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Allegiant Air officials say a plane leaving Kansas for Las Vegas skidded off the taxiway because of weather conditions. There were 161 passengers and six crew members on board. Allegiant says no one was injured. Passengers were taken to hotels. Allegiant says it will offer them $100 off vouchers for future travel.
