LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Police say they've arrested two women and a man they believe stole more than $5,200 worth of baby formula and a few other items from northern Utah stores.
Logan Police Capt. Curtis Hooley says the three were arrested Monday and are being held in the Cache County jail on suspicion of theft and other charges.
He identified them as 49-year-old Selford Velcu, 47-year-old Iolanda Velcu and 22-year-old Elisabeta Zatreanu. Officers believe they're California residents.
Hooley says during a traffic stop Monday, police noticed their white van matched a vehicle two women were seen driving after surveillance cameras caught them stealing baby formula from a Logan market on Dec. 4.
Hooley says police don't know what they intended to do with the formula but suspect it could be sold on the black market.
The three do not yet have attorneys.
