ATLANTA (AP) — The Carolina Panthers won't finish the season unbeaten. They lost their first game of the season yesterday in Atlanta as the Falcons won 20-13. The loss, the first in 19 regular-season games for the Panthers, leaves the Cam Newton-led team 14-1.

DENVER (AP) — The NFL game this evening has the Bengals playing the Broncos in Denver. Record-wise the home team is 10-4 while the Bengals are 11-3. Cincinnati has already wrapped up the AFC North championship.

UNDATED (AP) — Two more bowl games are being played today. The opening contest is the Military Bowl in Annapolis, Maryland, with Navy facing Pittsburgh, while the second contest has Minnesota playing Central Michigan in the Quick Lane Bowl game in Detroit.

UNDATED (AP) — The Top-25 men's basketball schedule features five games today. Of the five there are two featuring a Top-10 team with seventh-ranked North Carolina leading the way with a home game against UNC Greensboro. In the other only Top-10 game, No. 9 Butler is hosting Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

SEATTLE (AP) — Former major league outfielder Dave Henderson has died after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 57. Henderson was best known for his play with the Red Sox during his 14-year career.
