UNDATED (AP) — The National Weather Service says strong weekend storms produced at least nine tornadoes across North Texas. It says twisters, ranging from an EF-0 to an EF-4, touched down Saturday night. Eleven people were killed. As many as 600 homes were damaged in the Dallas suburb of Rowlett, bringing the total estimate of damaged homes in Texas to as many as 1,450.

UNDATED (AP) — Blizzard conditions in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles are closing major highways. Nearly all of Interstate 40 in Texas has been shut down. Travel is discouraged in both states. Roads are slick and plunging temperatures will turn water remaining on the roads into ice in western Oklahoma. Officials in Oklahoma say 60,000 homes and businesses have lost power.

CHICAGO (AP) — Mayor Rahm Emanuel is calling on the Chicago Police Department and the main police oversight agency to review crisis intervention training in the wake of a double fatal police shooting. A 19-year-old man was killed early Saturday by police responding to a domestic disturbance. A 55-year-old woman, who was a neighbor, was also killed. Police say she was hit accidentally.

POMONA, Calif. (AP) — A man suspected of dousing a woman with gasoline and setting her on fire during a domestic argument on Christmas Day in the Los Angeles suburb of Pomona is in custody. City News Service says police, acting on a tip, arrested 51-year-old Clarence Dear Sunday morning on a bus in Pasadena. Forty-one-year-old Dawn Hensley died at a hospital.

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Fla. (AP) — Police say a 7-year-old boy was killed in a drive-by shooting Sunday while visiting family in southwest Miami-Dade for the holidays. It happened in Richmond Heights. Police tell The Miami Herald four men pulled up in a vehicle and shot at the house with a high-powered rifle. Police are searching for a white, four-door Dodge Ram with tinted windows.
