CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Adrienne Motley scored 19 points and No. 23 Miami rolled over Florida International 83-55 Tuesday.
Jessica Thomas had 15 points while Michelle Woods added 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Hurricanes (12-1).
Florida International (2-7) was led by Kristian Hudson with 20 points and Taylor Shade with 15. Destini Feagin added 10 points and seven boards.
Miami never trailed. A 7-2 spurt near the end of the first quarter, including a 3-pointer by Laura Cornelius, gave the Hurricanes a seven-point lead after one. Motley's layup with 4:46 left in the first half completed a 14-5 run and Miami led 44-31 at intermission.
FIU scored the first 10 points of the second half — including Hudson's 3 on the first possession — to trim the deficit to three.
But the Hurricanes scored the next 15 points — punctuated by a Thomas 3-pointer — and FIU didn't threaten again.
