LAS VEGAS (AP) — DeWayne Russell had 20 points and six assists to help Grand Canyon beat Houston 78-69 at the Global Sports Classic on Monday night.

Grand Canyon (10-2) has won three straight, including a 52-45 victory against San Diego State.

The Antelopes went up by seven when Joshua Braun hit back-to-back 3s with just under five minutes to play. Later, Gerard Martin had a key block on Rob Gray Jr.'s shot attempt and Russell hit two free throws to give the Antelopes a 70-62 lead with 1:45 left.

Braun finished with 13 points and shot 3 for 4 from beyond the arc. Grandy Glaze added 10 points off the bench.

Galen Robinson Jr., finished with career-high 18 points for the Cougars (8-2). Gray added 17 points for Houston and Devonta Pollard had 10.

It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
