LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say the woman suspected of plowing a car into pedestrians along the Las Vegas Strip was living in the vehicle with her 3-year-old daughter. They say the woman reported staying in the car while it was parked in different structures across Las Vegas before yesterday's crash, which killed an Arizona woman. They say they don't know what might have caused the woman to drive onto a sidewalk several times, striking dozens of people.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say there's no connection between planned New Year's Eve celebrations in Las Vegas and the sidewalk crash on the Strip that killed one person and injured dozens of others. Sheriff Joe Lombardo said that agencies are doing everything they can to ensure revelers' safety, which is a yearlong process that's been ramped up in light of attacks around the world.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A review of U.S. regulatory fines issued to Nevada utilities for failing to ensure a reliable delivery of energy shows a variety of citations and penalties issued during the past six years. The fines range from a $52,000 settlement with Nevada Power Co. for mostly reporting deficiencies, to a $2,000 penalty in Lincoln County for having insufficient procedures to notify the FBI about threats of sabotage.

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — President Juan Manuel Santos had to reverse a celebratory Tweet after discovering that Miss Colombia had been mistakenly named the winner of the Miss Universe contest in Las Vegas, Nevada. Seconds after the tweet, it was announced that Miss Colombia Adriadna Gutierrez Arevalo was the first runner-up rather than the winner. Host Steve Harvey has apologized for the mistake.
