NEW YORK (AP) — Damon Lynn scored 32 points with five 3-pointers and NJIT held off a second-half surge by St. John's to win 83-74 on Sunday.

Chris Jenkins scored a career-high 19 points with five 3-pointers, Tim Coleman added 10 with 11 rebounds, and Ky Howard had 10 points with nine assists for the Highlanders (7-5). NJIT shot 11 of 20 from long distance (55 percent).

Down by four at halftime, Federico Mussini put St. John's up 41-39 with two 3s amid a 12-5 run early in the second half, but the Highlanders soon led 62-50 after Lynn scored nine points amid a 15-0 run. Durand Johnson's two free throws with 55 seconds left pulled St. John's within 75-72. Lynn's jumper on the next possession put NJIT up by five and St. John's got no closer.

Mussini scored 20 with five 3s, Christian Jones added 10 with 11 rebounds, and Yankuba Sima had a career-high 14 boards for St. John's (7-5).
