SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — President Barack Obama and his family are now headed to their annual Christmas vacation in Hawaii, after a stopover in San Bernardino, California. There, the president and first lady met with relatives of victims of this month's shooting rampage. Obama said many of the people he spoke with asked "how we can prevent shootings like this from happening in the future."

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Blowing horns and banging on tambourines, hundreds of South Koreans gathered in Seoul (sohl) today. They were protesting the arrest of a labor union leader who may face a sedition charge. The demonstration was the latest in a series of mass protests in recent months of conservative President Park Geun-hye (goon-hay).
BEIJING (AP) — China is accusing the U.S. of committing a "serious military provocation." It says the American military deliberately flew an Air Force B-52 strategic bomber over a Chinese-controlled man-made island in the South China Sea.
BEIJING (AP) — Smog in China's capital Beijing has climbed back into the unhealthy range as the second pollution red alert of the month went into effect. A wave of smog settled over the city of 22.5 million overnight and is forecast to last into Tuesday because of a lack of strong winds.
