East Tennessee erases deficit to beat Eastern Kentucky 87-81

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Ge'Lawn Guyn scored 27 points and shot 6-for-10 from 3-point range as East Tennessee State rallied from an early deficit and held off Eastern Kentucky 87-81 Friday.

T.J. Cromer added 22 points for ETSU (5-5).

JaVontae Hawkins buried a 3 with 4:24 left to tie it at 71, but Deuce Bello's dunk 22 seconds later put the Bucs on top. Jarelle Reischel tied it at 79 on a 3 with 1:48 to play before Guyn's 3-pointer gave ETSU the lead for good with 1:28 remaining.

Cromer's jumper with 22 seconds left extended the lead to 84-79. Eastern Kentucky missed three 3-point attempts in the last 15 seconds.

ETSU overcame an 18-7 deficit early and trailed 36-35 at halftime.

Reischel scored 29 points and Hawkins chipped in 23 points and nine rebounds for Eastern Kentucky (8-5).

ETSU outshot the Colonels from the field 54.5 percent to 53.1.
