A Utahn is among the wounded in a deadly Taliban attack.

Jacob Walker is recovering from a wound to his hand in Germany. He was hit during an attack that killed nine soldiers in Afghanistan.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports the bullet hit walker in the left side of his wrist and then came out on the right side of his hand, leaving lots of damage in its wake.

Walker's doctors say he's got a long road to recovery.

Walker is a 1997 graduate of Alta High School.
