Freund wins ski jump World Cup event in Russia

NIZHNY TAGIL, Russia (AP) — Severin Freund won a large hill event Saturday to extend his overall ski jump World Cup lead.

The German had jumps of 132 and 134 meters for a total score of 260 points, beating Petr Prevc of Slovenia by 11.5 points. Joachim Hauer of Norway was third on 243.7. It was Freund's second win of the season and he tops the season standings on 305 points, with Prevc second on 264.

In the women's normal hill event, Daniela Iraschko-Stoltz of Austria beat Japanese star Sara Takanashi for her first win of the season. Iraschko-Stoltz had jumps of 92.5 and 97 meters for 242.6 points, with Takanashi second on 238.6.

Eva Pinkelnig of Austria was third on 227.8.
