LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police plan increased patrols at Las Vegas-area Roman Catholic churches this weekend following a recent series of disruptive protests. Police say a group of men have walked through the churches during recent services wearing T-shirts reading "Trust Jesus" and "Repent or Perish" distributing fliers and shouting derogatory comments about the pope and Catholic icons.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Teenagers who barricaded themselves and a teacher in a Las Vegas classroom say they were protesting racist comments. Teacher Tiffany Dickerson says she told the Valley High School 10th-graders yesterday morning that she was leaving after administrators retaliated against her. The school district says the teacher's claims were unsubstantiated.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Presidential candidate John Kasich will meet voters for coffee in Las Vegas before the Republican debate on Tuesday. Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is planning post-debate campaign events in Carson City and Elko next week. The CNN Republican debate will be at The Venetian resort.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo made weight today for their featherweight title showdown at UFC 194 amid several thousand screaming, singing fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Most of the fans vocally backed McGregor. The charismatic Irish interim champion has become one of the biggest stars in mixed martial arts.
