CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada officials are contracting with a Las Vegas firm to design a new execution chamber at the Ely State Prison. The state Board of Examiners has voted to approve a $94,000 contract with the architectural firm Kittrell, Garlock and Associates. The funds will go toward remodeling a courtroom area and part of the visitation area to accommodate executions. Executions remain rare in Nevada.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two men from Nevada and Wisconsin have been found guilty in a $10 million investment fraud scheme involving a Swiss company. The Justice Department says 48-year-old Anthony Brandel of Las Vegas and 69-year-old James Warras of Waterford, Wisconsin were convicted by a federal jury in Nevada of conspiracy, wire fraud and securities fraud. The men couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A veteran Las Vegas high school teacher who once won statewide honors has been arrested and accused of having sexual contact with a female student. Police say 38-year-old Kristy Kay Yegge was arrested last week and released on $5,000 bail. The Clark County School District says Yegge is now assigned to stay home during its own investigation. She is being paid but banned from all schools.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — After being convicted on a misdemeanor, ex-Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship wants to go home for the holidays. A defense filing asks U.S. District Judge Irene Berger if Blankenship can return to Nevada from Dec. 19 through Jan. 5 to be with his fiancee and their families. His travel is restricted to southern West Virginia, Pike County, Kentucky, and Washington, D.C.
