LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Reports say three men who were painting graffiti onto a train have been struck and killed by another train near the airport of the city of Porto in northwestern Portugal.
Citing rescue service officials, Portuguese national broadcaster RTP said the accident happened after sunset Monday on tracks just east of Porto airport.
RTP said one of the dead was an 18-year-old Portuguese national and Spanish broadcaster TVE said another was a 20-year-old Spaniard from Madrid.
Fire service spokesman Amadeio Costa told RTP that eyewitnesses told police several more youths were painting at the time of the impact, but no other persons remained near the site of the accident when emergency services arrived.
