MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) — Donald Trump's rivals are criticizing the Republican presidential front runner's call for a ban on Muslims entering the United States. GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush tweeted that Trump is "unhinged," while John Kasich slammed Trump's "outrageous divisiveness." In early voting New Hampshire, the state GOP's chair called the idea "un-Republican" and "un-American."
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say San Bernardino shooter Syed Farook's co-workers had undergone "active shooter" training last year in the very same conference room where Farook and his wife went on to kill 14 people. Two employees who survived the attack said colleagues reacted to Wednesday's rampage by trying to drop under tables and stay quiet like they'd been trained. A county health official says, "Unfortunately, the room just didn't provide a whole lot of protection."
BEIRUT (AP) — Amnesty International says most of the Islamic State group's weapons have been taken from the Iraqi army. The rights group says decades of reckless arms trading and poorly regulated arms flows into Iraq have contributed to IS's arsenal. It says the weapons were manufactured and designed in more than two dozen countries that include the U.S., Russia and China.
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago police department is now the subject of a wide-ranging federal probe that will seek to determine whether there are racial disparities in officers' use of force. The investigation launched by the Justice Department will also look at systems set up to ensure officers are held accountable. This is the 23rd civil rights investigation of a police department under the Obama administration.
BOSTON (AP) — More than 20 Boston College students are complaining of gastrointestinal symptoms after eating at Chipotle. Eight of those students are members of the men's basketball team. It's not yet clear if the illnesses are part of a national outbreak of E. coli linked to the chain. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is investigating.
