Every season has its signature treats, but we're particularly fond of the holiday cookies, pies, and more that come with this time of year. You don't have to be a master baker to take part in these delicious options, just head to one of our favorite local spots below! Where do you get your favorite holiday treat?

Schmidt's Pastry Cottage

609 E 2100 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84106

You may have heard of their famous wedding cakes, but Schmidt's Pastry Cottage has a lot more than cakes to offer. This holiday season, they will be serving up all your traditional favorites from sugar cookies to fruit cake to gingerbread men to peanut brittle. If you're in the mood to try something new, they'll also be offering some other delectable choices, like peppermint brownies, pumpkin logs and some Dutch favorites like stollen bread (a sweet bread studded with dried fruit and drizzled with icing) and boterletter (a large round puff pastry).

You can also pick up a gingerbread house kit to assemble at home or buy one pre-decorated as a gift or centerpiece for your Christmas table.

Gourmandise the Bakery

250 S 300 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84111

Ready to try some truly unique goodies this holiday season? Look no further than this cozy French cafe made famous by their made-from-scratch recipes and friendly service. Their seasonal menu is full of delicious desserts and pastries only available for a limited time.

For a traditional favorite, try the Buche De Noel, also known as a Yule Log, made from rolled up white Genoise cake and your choice of either chocolate, mocha or hazelnut buttercream. You might also try the Lebkuchen, which is a German Christmas cookie reminiscent of American gingerbread drizzled with icing. For a real kid-pleaser try the cake bite ornaments made of red velvet cake balls dipped in chocolate and decorated like Christmas ornaments. They're almost too beautiful to eat.

RubySnap Fresh Cookies

770 S 300 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84101

For the true cookie connoisseur, you'll want to visit RubySnap Fresh Cookies to try out their freshly baked holiday cookies. In December, you can pick up the Dottie, made of chocolate sour cream dough with peppermint buttercream on top. In fact, why don't you grab a dozen or two? They're sure to be the highlight of your next party. RubySnap uses only the highest quality chocolate and premium nuts and fruits, and has a whole line of creative cookies named after and illustrated with pin-up girls of the past.

Bruges Waffles & Frites Downtown

336 W 300 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84101

Combine waffles with the holidays and what do you get? One of the best breakfast (or any other time of day) desserts you'll ever have. In addition to their normal menu of chocolate waffles, liege waffles, and its famous Waffle Monster, they have a delicious Noel waffle that they'll be serving up until the end of the month.
