MEXICAN HAT, San Juan County — Police in southeast Utah were searching for a man Wednesday after a woman was killed in "an apparent land dispute."

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office reported an argument occurred near Mexican Water, Arizona, between the 62-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man.

"Circumstances are under investigation but the dispute ended in the woman being killed," according to a release.

Police located the man's truck where it had become stuck in the San Juan County desert, the release indicates. The woman's body was found hidden under a tree.

The woman's name was not immediately released.

Multiple agencies, including the sheriff's office, FBI, Navajo Nation police and a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter were searching for the man in Utah near Mexican Hat.

More information will be reported as it become available.
