SALT LAKE CITY — A man who was on the run from police for two weeks after allegedly shooting his brother in East Millcreek now faces criminal charges.
Christopher John McMillan, 43, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a second-degree felony; felony discharge of a firearm with injury, a second-degree felony; felony discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony; and two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.
On Oct. 30, McMillan got into an argument with his brother at an apartment at 1975 E. Millbrook Dr. (3465 South). The argument escalated to the point that McMillan fired three rounds, striking his brother once in the foot, according to charging documents. Police say he also pointed his gun at a second man.
After the shooting, McMillan allegedly fled with his wife. Police said he called his mother after the altercation and told her he was on a "suicide mission." The brother also claimed McMillan was high on meth and bath salts at the time and told him he was "going to kill someone," according to Unified police.
Following a two-week search, investigators tracked down McMillan at the Discovery Inn, 380 W. 7200 South, on Nov. 7, where both he and his wife were arrested.
McMillan was also charged Nov. 4 in Summit County with theft, burglary and criminal mischief on accusations that he broke into Alaskan Fur Gallery in Park City and stole 20 fur coats and a pair of boots.
The man also has charges pending of disarming a police officer and assault on a police officer, according to court documents. A warrant was issued for his arrest for allegedly absconding from probation on a previous conviction. He also has a lengthy criminal history.
Wife Veronica Nash, 43, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of obstruction of justice and drug possession.
