SALT LAKE CITY — The three local FBS college football teams all hit the road this week, but only two came back with wins.
BYU held off a San Jose State two point conversion try late in the fourth quarter to win 17-16, while Utah forced four turnovers and quarterback Travis Wilson rushed for two scores in a 34-23 win over Washington.
Utah State missed a field goal late in a 14-13 loss to New Mexico.
In other games this week, No. 14 Oklahoma State shocked No. 9 TCU 49-29, and Clemson proved its No. 1 ranking with a 23-13 win over No. 16 Florida State.
With the games in the books, how did we do? Here are the results of Week 10 of KSL's College Football Pick'em.
KSL.com user J. Coleman (Utah fan base) finished the week with 171 points out of a possible 250, one of just four users in the top 50 to go 5-0 for the week.
Coleman's best picks were New Mexico 10, Utah State 7 (43 points) and Oklahoma State 35, TCU 34 (39 points). By finishing with the most points in Week 10, Coleman will receive a $30 Wells Fargo Visa gift card.
Consensus picks were 3-2 for the week (prediction, actual): BYU vs. San Jose State (37-19, 17-16); TCU vs. Oklahoma State (40-34, 29-49); Florida State vs. Clemson (24-32, 13-23); Utah State vs. New Mexico (33-18, 13-14); Utah vs. Washington (28-21, 34-23).
Ute fans were the most accurate in Week 10, though the average was lower across the board. Ute fans predicted 60 percent of the games correctly, earning an average score of 20.2 points per game. Utah State fans ended in second place, picking 58 percent correctly and earning 19.8 points, while BYU finished with 56 percent correct and 18.4 points per game.
BYU fans were the most optimistic heading into the week, with 99.3 percent of the fan base picking the Cougars to beat San Jose State. 98.8 percent of Utah State fans picked the Aggies to beat New Mexico, and 96.1 percent of Ute fans picked Utah to beat Washington.
For those following the KSL Sports group, Ben Dowsett took the top spot with 128 points and a 4-1 record. Overall, Andy Larsen continues to lead the way with 1,344 points and a 38-12 record.
Here is the schedule of games for Week 11: Utah State (5-4) at Air Force (6-3); Memphis (8-1) at Houston (9-0); BYU (7-2) at Missouri (4-5); Oklahoma (8-1) at Baylor (8-0); and Utah (8-1) at Arizona (5-5).
