KGMB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1M8XWLu ) state epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Park says the 10 people who contracted the disease, which is spread by mosquitoes, were residents and visitors to the island.
The Hawaii Health Department is focusing its disease control efforts on areas of Kona. But Park says that cases have been found in different areas of the island.
Dengue fever is spread by mosquitoes. There is no cure, and doctors typically prescribe bed rest and acetaminophen.
