Harrington leads Lamar to 55-7 defeat of Houston Baptist

HOUSTON (AP) — Kade Harrington and Joe Minden were in on three touchdowns apiece as Lamar defeated Houston Baptist 55-7 on Saturday, ending a two-game losing skid.

Harrington rushed for 192 yards and 2 TDs — from the 7 and the 9 — and he also caught two passes for 43 yards, including a 29-yarder from Minden for the game's first score. Minden completed 11 of 18 passes for 208 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. The Cardinals (4-4, 3-3 Southland Conference) compiled 568 yards total offense to 233 for Houston Baptist (2-7, 0-6).

The Huskies, playing their second official season as a Division I-A team, gained 137 yards in the air from Tony Dawson, who completed 16 of 36 passes, was intercepted twice and sacked three times. Tony Dawson scored from the 34 for Houston Baptists' lone TD.

Devonn Brown caught five passes for 130 yards for Lamar, with touchdown catches of 29 and 45 yards.
