Correction: Police initially identified the person who was shot as a suspect, but later said they were an innocent bystander.MIDVALE — One person is in custody and one person injured after a chase and an officer-involved shooting Friday night, police said.
Friday night, Unified Police officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 180 W. 7200 South in Midvale, according to Lt. Lex Bell of Unified Police. The officers discovered the vehicle was stolen and attempted to take the driver into custody, at which point the man began shooting at officers, Bell said.
The man fled on foot, and was apprehended after roughly a 10-minute foot chase, according to Bell. No officers were injured during the course of this incident, Bell said. One person was shot and injured during the incident, but this individual's involvement in the incident has not been determined at this point, according to Bell.
No information has been released at this time regarding the names or ages of the men involved. At least 30 officers from multiple agencies responded to the incident, Bell said. Officers are confident they have apprehended all suspects involved, according to Bell.
