SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A police chief who accidentally shot himself during a training course in May is no longer a firearms instructor.
The Utah Highway Patrol says Riverdale Police Chief Dave Hansen has voluntarily surrendered his teaching license.
Hansen shot himself in the ankle May 3 while teaching a concealed weapon-permit course. He had taught classes for about five years, but was criticized by students after the shooting.
Hansen has been an officer for more than 20 years and became police chief two years ago.
