SALEM — Salem Hills handed Maple Mountain a 22-0 loss in the final week of the regular season, but the Region 8 rivals will meet again at 4 p.m. Tuesday with a spot in the Class 4A state playoffs on the line.
Tristan Swensen and Vili Wolfgram each ran for short touchdown runs, and Alex Baker added a pair of field goals Friday to set up a three-way tie for the final two spots out of Region 8. Spanish Fork won a coin flip between the three teams, and will play at East to open the 4A playoffs on Friday, while the winner of Salem Hills (4-6) and Maple Mountain (7-3) will travel to Highland as the No. 3 seed.
After winning six of their first seven games, the Golden Eagles have lost two of the last three in the regular season to set up the showdown.
