SALT LAKE CITY — Week 8 was a rough one for two of the three major in-state college football programs.
The Utes threw four interceptions in a 42-24 loss at USC, while Utah State turned the ball over four times in a 48-14 loss at San Diego State.
BYU had no trouble dispatching Wagner, 70-6.
In other games this week, Oklahoma routed Texas Tech 63-27 while Ole Miss shut down Texas A&M 23-3.
With the games in the books, how did we do? Here are the results of Week 8 of KSL's College Football Pick'em.
KSL.com user J. Monsen (BYU fan base) took the top spot in Week 8 with 186 points out of a possible 250.
Monsen went 5-0 for the week, with best picks being USC 42, Utah 24 (50 points) and San Diego State 33, Utah State 24 (42 points). By finishing with the most points in Week 8, Monsen will receive a $30 Wells Fargo gift card.
Consensus picks struggled in Week 8 with a 2-3 record (prediction, actual): San Diego State vs. Utah State (20-32, 48-14); USC vs. Utah (23-31, 42-24); Oklahoma vs. Texas Tech (35-27, 63-27); Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M (26-29, 23-3); and BYU vs. Wagner (50-9, 70-6).
BYU fans were the most accurate in Week 8, correctly picking 54 percent of the games and earning an average of 14.5 points per game. Utah State was second with 48 percent and 11.9 points and Utah last with 47 percent and 11.5 points.
BYU fans were also the most optimistic heading into Week 8, with 99.9 percent of the fan base picking the Cougars to beat Wagner. 96.4 percent of Utah State fans thought the Aggies would beat San Diego State and 95.4 percent of Ute fans thought Utah would beat USC.
For those following the KSL Sports group, Andy Larsen and Rod Zundel finished with 3-2 records and 90 and 86 points, respectively. Larsen remains No. 1 overall, with a record of 31-9 and 1,107 points.
Here is the schedule of games for Week 9 (note first game is on THURSDAY): North Carolina (6-1) at No. 23 Pittsburgh (6-1); Wyoming (1-7) at Utah State (4-3); No. 11 Florida (6-1) at Georgia (5-2); Oregon State (2-5) at No. 13 Utah (6-1); and No. 9 Notre Dame (6-1) at Temple (7-0). BYU has the week off.
