(KSL News) Public transit riders are feeling the pinch of high fuel costs. Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has tacked on a 25 cent fuel surcharge, bringing the price of TRAX and bus tickets to $2 a ride.
Many low-income and disabled riders say UTA is favoring affluent riders while squeezing those in need out. But UTA says it's simply responding to rising diesel prices.
It says if it allows fuel bills to create a budget deficit, that could lead to more bus routes being cut.
