CLINTON, Utah (AP) --Navy Airman Jason Doyle, who was lost at sea when he fell from an aircraft carrier, lived his life to fulfill his dreams, his father said.
Dale Doyle flew to Utah from Nebraska for services Tuesday for his 19-year-old son, who fell from the USS Kitty Hawk on July 8 off the coast of Japan.
He was assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 136, which flies Prowler electronic attack aircraft. The Navy said he fell into the water while the ship was conducting routine flight operations. His body was never recovered.
Dale Doyle said, "As he grew older, he grew fond of airplanes. He wanted to travel. His dream was to visit Japan and serve his country. It's comforting to know he lived his dreams."
More than 200 friends and family members, including two friends from the Kitty Hawk, attended the services.
Jason Doyle, of Omaha, grew up in the Sunset area of northern Utah. He attended Sunset Elementary School and then Edison Elementary and a junior high school in North Ogden before moving with his father and brother to Nebraska, where he attended high school.
A sister, grandparents and several aunts and uncles live in the Sunset and Clearfield areas.
