(KSL News) A handful of small fires merged overnight in Skull Valley, creating what is quickly becoming one of the biggest wildfires in the state.
Flames jumped close to homes forcing residents to evacuate. They spent the night at a church in Iosepa.
SR 196 was closed overnight while flames danced across the highway. Evacuated residents were allowed to return home and the road is back open.
Officials have the blaze about 25 percent contained. Flames have charred more than 2000 acres.
Officials say lightning likely sparked the fire.
