Jed Boal ReportingDestiny Norton's family hangs on to hope that they'll find the girl. It's a paralyzing twist for a family that had recently made new commitments in their lives.
Rick and Rachael Norton were at the search headquarters this morning as friends, family and many strangers fanned out to help them search for any sign of Destiny. The family is shattered emotionally; by all accounts they've had little sleep. They're leaning on old and new friends.
Rachael Norton has seen her daughter's picture everywhere she turns. She's grateful for that, now she wants to see her daughter back in her arms.
Rachael Norton, Destiny's Mother: "I'm hoping somebody might spot her. Get enough fliers out, somebody might spot her somewhere."
Rick Norton, originally from Texas, was overwhelmed by the support from their large circle of friends.
Rick Norton, Father: "I just want to find my kid. I want to thank everybody for helping. Hopefully something turns up."
Rachael Norton says they have a third child on the way. The family moved to their Salt Lake City home from West Valley five months ago because they like the area near Liberty Park. Rick started a new job with the Latter-Day Saint Humanitarian Center.
He was baptized in the LDS Church Saturday. The couple was married a week before that, after about a decade together. They even planned a trip with the kids to Texas to visit Rick's family that he has not seen since he was 16.
Rachael Norton, Destiny's Mother: "We've had a lot of lovely things happen, then all of a sudden, this had to happen."
Rachael Norton says her family has too much to look forward to, to give up hope.
Rachael Norton: "We're not going to give up. I know it's a hot day, but anybody who can spare time, just help."
Destiny's parents say they are thankful for the work of the police on their daughter's case. Police say they've interviewed the family extensively and they are NOT under suspicion
