(KSL News) The Utah Highway Patrol has lost a trusted friend to the heat.
Troopers took Reggie the K-9 to Green River for a special enforcement shift.
The UHP says Reggie's trooper left him in the car with the engine running and air conditioner ON. That's standard procedure.
Hotel management told the trooper Reggie was struggling. The trooper found the dog unconscious and put him in an ice bath. But Reggie died that night at an animal hospital.
The UHP is trying to find out more about the incident.
