SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The commander of the Army company that Bowe Bergdahl belonged to says soldiers were tired, hungry and confused during the search for the Idaho sergeant but continued on "because of the brotherhood." Maj. Silvino Silvino testified yesterday at Bergdahl's Article 32 hearing that some soldiers grew angry because they came to believe Bergdahl had deserted. Bergdahl's lawyers are presenting evidence and calling witnesses today.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho Falls councilwoman and some local law enforcement officials are at odds over her testifying in favor of parole for a man who shot at an officer in 2010. The Post Register reports Councilwoman Barbara Ehardt says Franklin Crazythunder is like an adopted member of her family. He is serving a sentence of up to 15 years.
KUNA, Idaho (AP) — Officials say the big yields being harvested in Idaho this year are not expected to bring in matching revenue. KTVB-TV reports that the Idaho Farm Bureau says the market is flooded with crops and milk, driving prices way down. Agriculture is a major industry in Idaho, where it employs around 100,000 people. Most of those employees will see less money this year, potentially sending less spending into the economy.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A high-tech drone will be tested over an Idaho wildfire to see if it's capable of supplying real-time information that incident commanders can use when directing firefighters and manned aircraft. The U.S. Forest Service says testing of the 55-pound craft with a 12-foot wingspan is scheduled to start tonight and last about a week.
