FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A new buyer has offered $2 million for the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, home owned by former teen idol David Cassidy, surpassing the $1.8 million bid made at a recent auction.
Lamar Fisher of Fisher Auction Co. told the Sun Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1JdfH9Z ) the new buyer stepped forward on Wednesday a week after four bids were placed on the 7,000-square-foot waterfront home.
The 65-year-old Cassidy filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case earlier this year. He bought the home in 2001 for $1.1 million. The five-bedroom, six-bathroom house was appraised at $1.9 million.
Cassidy's lawyer Susan Lasky says they were hoping to get more for the home to pay off creditors.
Real estate agent Andrea Harrington says her client withdrew his $1.8 million offer Wednesday. She declined further comment.
A bankruptcy judge will be asked to approve the new offer.
