MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis has named a section of a busy city street after late bluesman B.B. King.
A street sign was unveiled Wednesday to mark the renaming of a roughly 3-mile stretch of Third Street to B.B. King Boulevard. Third Street, a key Memphis thoroughfare, eventually becomes U.S. Highway 61, which is also known as the Blues Trail.
King died May 14 in hospice care at home in Las Vegas at age 89. Wednesday would have been his 90th birthday.
King, a guitar master and singer from Itta Bena, Mississippi, performed in and lived in Memphis during his career.
