SALT LAKE CITY — A man suffered three gunshot wounds in a shooting after a party in July, according to charges filed Monday in 3rd District Court.
Patrick Rainer Williams, 20, allegedly shot the man shortly after getting into an argument with him at a home near 900 N. Morton Drive in the early morning hours of July 20.
The shooting victim was hospitalized for two injuries to his left leg and one to his right hand, Salt Lake police say in charging documents.
Williams, from Midvale, is charged with discharge of a firearm causing injury, consisting of two first-degree felony counts and one second-degree felony count. He is also charged with two counts of third-degree felony aggravated assault.
Williams allegedly approached the shooting victim in a vehicle and fired several shots outside the passenger window as the man was leaving the party with two friends.
Megan Foulger, 19, of West Jordan, was allegedly driving the vehicle and was charged Monday with second-degree felony obstruction of justice. According to court documents, Foulger told police she and Williams left the party separately and that she called him after hearing gunshots while driving away.
Police reviewed Foulger's phone records and found she didn't make any calls around the time of the alleged drive-by shooting, charging documents state.
The victim positively identified both Williams and Foulger as the shooter and driver, respectively, in separate interviews with police, court documents say.
Williams is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail, and a warrant was issued Monday for Foulger's arrest. No initial court date has been set in either case.
