SALT LAKE CITY — What a great way to start the college football season.

Week 1 proved to be highly entertaining as Utah beat Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines at home, while BYU used a Hail Mary in the closing seconds to beat Nebraska on the road.

The question everyone is asking — how did we do?

KSL.com users C. Twitchell (BYU fan base) and D. Whitaker (Utah fan base) each ended up with 213 total points out of a possible 250 to win the first week of KSL College Football Pick'em. Congratulations to both of them for winning a $30 Wells Fargo VISA gift card.

Going forward, new rules have been established to account for a tie. First, the winner of a tie will be the person with the highest amount of points for the game of the fan base they belong to; the second tiebreaker will be the highest overall points for any game in the week; and the third tiebreaker will be the highest points of the sum of the Utah, Utah State and BYU games.

The consensus picks were 4-1 for the week (prediction, actual): Utah State vs. SUU (39-11, 12-9), Utah vs. Michigan (24-19, 24-17), Boise State vs. Washington (27-23, 16-13), Nebraska vs. BYU (28-25, 28-33), and Alabama vs. Wisconsin (29-19, 35-17).

BYU fans were the most accurate in week 1 scoring an average of 28 points per game. Utah was next with 24.7 and Utah State last with 23.7. BYU also had the highest correct pick percentage, with the fan base picking 84 percent. Utah was second with 76 percent, and Utah State a close third with 75 percent.

As far as the KSL Sports group is concerned, Utah beat writer Josh Furlong is the leader after week 1 with a score of 168 while Matt Glade is a close second with 165. You can review their picks here.

And don't forget to get your picks in early for week 2 with the first game on the schedule being played on Friday (Utah vs. Utah State).

If you haven't signed up yet, don't worry — each weekly prize ($30 Wells Fargo VISA gift card) will be awarded to the highest point total for that week, so you have the same odds to win as those who participated in week 1.
