LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Texas Tech defensive end Pete Robertson, the Big 12 sack leader last season, has been suspended for the game against Sam Houston State.

A Texas Tech official on Saturday was mum on the reason the senior from Longview would not play.

Robertson was on the field in a jersey but without pads during pregame warmups.

The Red Raiders, looking for an improved defense this season behind new coordinator David Gibbs, will surely miss his experience against the Bearkats.

In addition to leading the league in sacks (12), Robertson also was second in the Big 12 in forced fumbles (3) and fourth in tackles for loss (14.5).
