(KSL News) We have an update on the case against a man accused of stealing from some BYU students then trying his scam again in Idaho.
Joshua Layne Shelley will be charged with two counts of grand theft-- one for stolen property and another for a stolen credit card.
Some BYU students say Shelley had told them he was from Ireland and he was a returned missionary. But last week he disappeared with some of their valuables.
An apartment manager in Pocatello, Idaho, says this time Shelley claimed he was from England and again he was looking for LDS roommates.
Bradley Dance/ Apartment Manager: "He came in and had a weird accent. He says, 'Oh, I'm from England.' But it was almost more of an Australian accent."
"When he brought up that my sister was at BYU Idaho and brought up her specific name, that was okay. This was the same guy that had been doing this up there and that we'd heard about going on in Provo."
That's right, earlier in the day Shelley had spoken to that man's sister, who was an apartment manager in Rexburg.
