WEBER COUNTY — Authorities in Weber County were investigating the possible drowning of a cliff jumper at Causey Dam Friday night.
According to Weber County Sheriff's Office Lt. Jason Talbot, a man was with a group of people who were cliff jumping when one in their party jumped and never resurfaced.
Crews responded to the scene as it was getting dark and began searching the area with four kayaks and a small boat to look for the missing man.
Members of Search and Rescue, the Weber County Sheriff's Office, and the Forest Service responded to the scene, Talbot said.
Lt. Lane Findlay said that Causey Dam presents some unique challenges for search and rescue crews.
"It's really deep. It's a cold water lake and it has real steep sides," Findlay said.
There is far less visibility than nearby Pineview Reservoir.
Crews will resume the effort at first light, according to Talbot.
