SALT LAKE CITY — You've probably seen GoPro skiing videos before, but this one takes place in a completely different environment: the urban confines of the City Creek Center Mall.
Thursday, the official GoPro YouTube account posted this 50-second video of Daniel Freed Schwartz flying down 3 flights of escalators at some pretty fast speeds. The video already has over 120,000 views in just over 24 hours.
The video was part of GoPro's "Line of the Winter" contest, where they asked skiers from around the world to send in their best GoPro videos of the skiing season. This one, though, was a little unusual; perhaps a forced improvisation after Utah's relatively dry winter.
City Creek Center officials, it's fair to say, are not pleased. Linda Wardell, general manager of the mall, released this statement about the viral video:
"The safety of our guests is our first priority. While we welcome and respect the wide variety of interests of those who visit our center, this type of activity is simply not allowed. We will remain vigilant about monitoring and will immediately address those who compromise their own well-being or that of others, or diminish our guest experience in any way."
