NEW YORK (AP) — "Dear Evan Hansen," a musical about growing up in the age of social media, will make the jump from Washington, D.C., to New York City.
Second Stage Theatre said Thursday the show will make the trip north and appear in its off-Broadway theater in spring 2016. It's set to run through Aug. 23 at Arena Stage.
Songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul teamed up with writer Steven Levenson to explore how people use social media to involve themselves in tragic situations.
In the story, Evan Hansen is a lonely misfit who writes a private letter to himself that accidentally is made public. The show is directed by Michael Greif.
No cast was announced but Ben Platt from "Pitch Perfect" is starring in the Arena Stage production.
