(KSL News) A prominent civic leader and co-owner of two religious bookstores in Utah has been arraigned on 33 child sex offenses.

Brad Gale is charged with rape, aggravated sex abuse, sodomy and unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

He's also facing 25 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Court records say Gale began abusing a now 15-year-old boy five years ago.

Gale co-owns two Gale's Office Supply & Books stores, specializing in LDS authors and scripture sales, in Roosevelt and Vernal.

He has been active in a variety of civic efforts and has served on the county's historic preservation board.
