PASCO, Wash. (AP) — Teachers in Pasco have voted to strike if they don't have a contract agreement by Sept. 1.
KNDO-TV reports (http://is.gd/1ibyLa ) a strike vote was taken at a union meeting on Wednesday evening.
The president of the Pasco Education Association says the main disagreements with the school district are over curriculum, classroom size and teacher pay. Greg Olson says they are about $9 million apart on a financial agreement.
He says Pasco teachers last went out on strike in 1979. The union represents about 1,000 teachers in Pasco.
