NEW YORK (AP) — New York City government appears to be a laughing matter.

Aides to Mayor Bill de Blasio confirmed Wednesday that comedian Louis C.K. has been shadowing the mayor to do research for a project.

Louis C.K. sat in on a meeting of the state's Financial Control Board on Tuesday, listening to de Blasio's testimony.

He attended several meetings at City Hall. Then he joined the mayor at a National Night Out anti-crime event at a Brooklyn police precinct.

This was not the first time de Blasio and the comedian collaborated. Louis C.K. was part of de Blasio's skit at this year's Inner Circle journalism variety show.

It was not clear when the actor, who stars in the hit series "Louie," would follow the mayor again.
